Glacier Park, Inc. gateway and park properties operate seasonally May - September; while Grouse Mountain Lodge operates on a year-round basis.

Glacier Park Inc. holds a rich and diverse history of lodging in Glacier National Park, Montana. Our long history in the area makes us experts in providing comfortable accommodations in our historic properties across Glacier and Waterton.
1892: Apgar Village Cabins open, operated by Milo Apgar
1910: President William Howard Taft signs a bill creating Glacier National Park
1910-1914: Louis Hill and the Great Northern Railway commissioned construction of nine chalets including Glacier Park
Hotel, Many Glacier Hotel, and Prince of Wales Hotel
1913: Glacier Park Hotel opens (now Glacier Park Lodge)
1914: Great Northern Railway establishes the Glacier Park Hotel Company to manage their Glacier National Park operations
1927: Prince of Wales Hotel opens
1929: Great Northern Railway introduces the Empire Builder
1932: St. Mary Café & Cabins opens (now St. Mary Lodge & Resort)
1933: Going-To-The-Sun Highway officially opens (Highway term changes to Road in the 1950s)
1938: West Glacier is constructed (then called Belton)
Post World War II: Glacier Park Hotel Company is renamed Glacier Park Company
1957: Great Northern Railway turns over management of Glacier Park Company to Donald T. Knutson who ran a construction
company and owned hotels in Minnesota and North Dakota
1960: Don Hummel, his brother, and Gail and Don Ford pay $1.4 million for Glacier Park Company and assume operation
under the name Glacier Park, Inc.
1984: Grouse Mountain Lodge opens
2011: Glacier Park Inc. acquires St. Mary Lodge & Resort and Grouse Mountain Lodge
2014: Glacier Park Inc. acquires West Glacier Village & Apgar Village Lodge
Corporate Evolution
1930: The Greyhound Corporation was established
1981: Hummel sells Glacier Park, Inc. to Greyhound Corporation of Phoenix, AZ.
1990 - Greyhound Corporation renamed Greyhound Dial Corporation
1991 - Greyhound Dial Corporation renamed The Dial Corporation
1996 - Dial Corporation separates into two independent companies: The Dial Corporation and Viad Corporation
1996 to present: Viad Corporation is Glacier Park, Inc.'s parent company
